Data for Clip Angle Shear Connection
A single clip angle or a double clip angle connection is defined by selecting “L” or “2L” options, respectively.
The clip angle is positioned in the beam web at top, bottom or center by selecting one of the position options. The “match other side bolt” option is activated for shear connections to column web or for beam to girder connections when beams are connected on both sides of the column or girder web. The user should select Top, Bottom, or Center option for the clip angle on one side and “match other side bolts” option for the opposite side. The program will not do this automatically, and the bolt holes may not line up unless this option is selected by the user.
The outstanding leg of the clip angle is defined by the user to be the short or long leg of the unequal leg angles.
In the “Design” mode a subset of the data items will be active for the user to define or change, and the rest of the data are computed by the program. In the “Check” mode, however, the user can define every data item. The program will not perform any design calculations, but report the design check calculations.
